First Congregational Church

The First Congregational Church of Evanston was founded in 1869 by settlers from New England, where Congregationalism is rooted. Our current sanctuary – an outstanding example of Colonial Revival architecture – was dedicated in 1927. St. Mary Catholic Church

Founded in 1866 as a mission church attended from St. Henry, Chicago or St. Joseph, Grosse Pointe, it became a parish in 1872.  St. Mary Catholic church has been an anchor in “downtown” Evanston ever since, with a diverse congregation.
